Dearest  Naomi’s Joy family and friends

 

Greetings to you all at the beginning of this new year. We have been busy planning the year, and have had to make a hard decision. We hope you are all supportive of the decision we have made.

 

We are closing the shop. We have tried to turn things around, but after a two and a half year effort, we realised there is no wisdom in keeping our doors open. What was started to resource our families and fund our organisation, has become a burden and resource consumer. Despite the reduction in rent (thank you to our landlord for his kindness)  we are not covering our costs.

 

Our thoughts moving forward are to keep a small selection of resources for our care families. To dedicate time and resources to our online shop and social media sale of profitable large item donations. We will also pursue other funding initiatives this year.

 

We have had a flurry of new life over the festive season. We added 2 babies to the fold. We have one new care family who already had a baby arrive just before Christmas. 

 

Our Whatsapp support group is working well and we feel privileged to support our families with emotional, spiritual, developmental and practical help. We plan some zoom support group times this year as our families are spreading themselves out around the city. 

 

We realise we will have to reevaluate the way we have done things in the past and adapt to new ways, but we must keep the heart of God in focus and  remember why we do what we do. Let’s keep on putting the lonely into families and giving these precious lives the best possible start they can get through Naomi’s Joy.
