Greetings from the Naomi’s Joy Team!
We are still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that we are halfway through the year already! Where has the time gone? I guess time flies when you are having fun! And there is nothing more rewarding than seeing babies off to their forever families!
We currently have four babies in care, one of whom is getting ready to leave soon. As always we are praying for a match made in Heaven for her. We also said goodbye to another little girl who graced one of our families lives for a short time. Unfortunately we do not have the capacity for many more babies at the moment and we are constantly praying that more families will be raised up. If anyone would like more information about becoming a Care Family, please give us a call and we can help you on your way.
Our shop continues to be a blessing and provides resources to our Care Families, and sells reasonably priced second hand baby goods to the public. We were also able to donate clothes towards the Masi Fire victims. The shop is looking lovely after our mini revamp last quarter and we are blessed with faithful volunteers who give selflessly of their time. If you feel you would like to volunteer at our shop, please give us a call. It is a lovely way to keep busy, meet new people, and contribute to a great cause.
We have been blessed to receive a whole lot of packs of nappies for our babies from Kim Needham Chiropractic who did a nappy drive for us. Also The House of Braganza in Kommetjie hosted a market and all the proceeds from the second-hand stall, along with donations from the other stall-holders were donated to us.
We have finished with our Quality Improvement Systems compliance and are ready to undergo the process of being accredited. This is a huge accomplishment for us but we felt it was worth the effort in order to set the bar high for our policies and procedures. Unfortunately the accreditation is expensive and we are looking at ways of raising funds. If anyone feels led to make a contribution towards this our bank details are as follows: Naomi’s Joy at FNB Account number: 62509453875. Please use QIS as a reference.
We had a fun Team Building Murder Mystery Dinner at which we discovered the acting abilities of some of our team members. Our Team has also been involved in several training opportunities this quarter. We attended the Arise Trauma and Attachment conference in May and June, where we learned a little about dealing with children who have had trauma in their backgrounds. We also attended the Common Good conference about the First Thousand Days of a child’s life from conception until two years old, and how we as the church can make an impact. We are excited to put what we have learned into practice!
So much work to do and so little time! We are sincerely grateful for your interest in our organization and thank the Lord for all of our supporters, donors, and volunteers. We are truly blessed to be a part of this work.
